Por eso he intentado que mi censo fuera lo más equilibrado posible, que incluyera los lugares esenciales de España para un aficionado al arte, al paisaje, a los museos, a la gastronomía, a los lugares insólitos o misteriosos, a la historia, al exotismo, a las fiestas, a la arqueología... Este libro es, por lo tanto, una macedonia de sitios interesantes en la que he procurado incluir los variados gustos de los españoles. Estoy seguro de que todos los lugares que este libro incluye nos dejarán un recuerdo agradable o por lo menos inolvidable.

In Spain there are no less than fifty or a hundred thousand interesting places. A list of a thousand places worth visiting is necessarily incomplete, I am aware of that. That is why I have tried to make my census as balanced as possible, to include the essential places in Spain for a lover of art, landscape, museums, gastronomy, unusual or mysterious places, history, exoticism, festivals, archaeology... This book is, therefore, a fruit salad of interesting places in which I have tried to include the varied tastes of Spaniards.
