Los aires difíciles / Almudena Grandes

Juan Olmedo y Sara Gómez son dos extraños que se instalan a principios de agosto en una urbanización de la costa gaditana dispuestos a reiniciar sus vidas. Ambos arrastran un pasado bien diferente en Madrid. Sara, hija de padres menesterosos, que vivió una "singular infancia de vida prestada" con su madrina en el barrio de Salamanca, sufre el estigma de quien lo tuvo todo y luego lo perdió. Juan Olmedo, por su parte, huye de una tragedia familiar y un amor secreto y torturante, que han estado a punto de arruinar su vida. Sin buscarlo, "abocados a convivir como los únicos supervivientes de un naufragio", intercambiarán confidencias, compartirán asistenta, Maribel, y el cuidado de los niños, y buscarán refugio en esta nueva familia, elegida no impuesta. Como el poniente y el levante, esos aires difíciles de la costa atlántica, sus existencias parecen agitarse al dictado de un destino inhóspito, pero ellos han decido encauzarlo con voluntad férrea a su propio favor.

Juan Olmedo and Sara Gómez are two strangers who settled in a coastal development in Cadiz at the beginning of August, determined to restart their lives. Both carry a very different past from Madrid. Sara, the daughter of impoverished parents, who lived a "singular childhood of borrowed life" with her godmother in the Salamanca neighborhood, suffers the stigma of having had everything and then losing it. Juan Olmedo, on the other hand, flees from a family tragedy and a secret and torturous love that has almost ruined his life. Without seeking it, "doomed to live together like the only survivors of a shipwreck," they will exchange confidences, share a housekeeper, Maribel, and the care of the children, and seek refuge in this new family, chosen not imposed.
