The New Practical Chinese Reader is a new series of textbooks designed for native speakers of Western languages to learn Chinese. This work consists of seventy lessons across six volumes, covering beginner to intermediate levels over a three-year teaching period. It has been compiled following the guidelines of the New Teaching Program of NOCEF and with input from the HSK guidelines. Its aim is to develop the communicative skills of Chinese learners by studying the structures and functions of the Chinese language and gaining knowledge of related culture, while simultaneously enhancing comprehension and oral and written expression.
